Can Ongen

Can Ongen has been VP International Markets since September 2017.

Can joined us as Vice President to lead the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region in 2014. He added the Latin America (LATAM) region to his responsibilities early 2017.

International Markets represent more than half of the Company’s sales revenue and comprise more than 80 markets.

Can has more than 25 years’ experience in pharmaceuticals, disposable & implantable medical devices, capital equipment and over-the-counter businesses in developed, emerging and start-up markets, internationally.

Can started his career as a Sales Representative in 1990. He progressed through several positions of increasing importance, mainly in sales and general management. Prior to joining Galderma, he held several local and regional positions in Alcon, a division of Novartis, established several affiliates and regional business hubs in Emerging Markets, including the Middle East, Africa, Central and Eastern Europe and CIS. As Vice President, Can has led Western European markets, including the UK and Germany. He has managed complex multi-business P&L with revenues of over CHF 1.5 billion, leading a team of over 2,500 people.

Can has strong leadership, strategic vision and execution, and promotes diversity and inclusion.

Trained as a pharmacist, he also holds a Business Administration degree from IBA, Istanbul University. He completed an Executive Leadership Program at IMD, Switzerland, as well as a Strategic Leadership Program at the Harvard Business School.

Can has dual Swiss and Turkish citizenship.
